The Christmas of Many Firsts!

The Christmas of Many Firsts! The obvious and most exciting is of course that this was Charlotte's very first Christmas! And although she was cranky… she cut her first tooth! And to make it all the more special... it snowed! Which for Matt and I is another first! Neither of us can ever remember it actually snowing on Christmas day in our lifetime. I actually read this interesting tidbit in the Seattle Times... While there has been snow on the ground for Christmas, in Seattle we've had snowfall on Dec. 25 only five times since 1909, and that's including a trace snowfall in 1944 and a half-inch in 1915. Lowland snowfall is a bit of a bust: Our biggest snow on record was in 1916, when a total of 32.5 inches fell in Seattle between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2. Seattle Times Now, to continue on with our firsts... On Christmas Eve we went to First Presbyterian's Candle-Light service for the first time... and it was the first time Matt and Lindsay had ever been to church on Christmas Eve! This was also Matt's first Christmas ever staying at his own home on Christmas day! It was our first Christmas celebrated in our first home and our first time hosting the big Christmas dinner. Whew... this was quite a year. And for next year I have decided... Matt and I are taking vacation days before and after Christmas day!!! I hope all our family and friends had a wonderful Christmas as well. We pray that you felt the Peace of Christmas in your hearts and took time to remember THE (real) First Christmas and what it is all about. Merry Christmas!
Love, Matthew, Nadine, and Charlotte (The Kohlers)

The Weekend didn't end in Vancouver...

The Christmas celebration continued for us Kohlers as we drove from Vancouver on Sunday to Kent for the annual Coury Christmas gathering. Charlotte got to spend a little time with her second cousin Ava. I think they like each other!

Christmas Weekend in Vancouver

To kick off Charlotte's first Christmas, we made the trip down to Vancouver on Friday, December 21st to visit Grampy Kohler & Grammy Angelia, and Grandma Kohler! This year we stayed at Grandma Kohler's house with Auntie Lindsay.
On Saturday we went To Grampy Kohler and Grammy Angelia's house all day! Charlotte absolutely loves the dogs! On Sunday we had our annual holiday brunch at Grandma Kohler's with the Donahue gang.

8 months old and crawling!

Everytime I try to catch her crawling on camera she stops! So when I get that on film I will upload it immediately! I can hardly believe she is already 8 months old! She is approximately 15 lbs and about 25 inches long. She is our tiny little girl! It only took Lola about 8 months to warm up to Charlotte! Now I find Lola sitting by her all the time.

Christmas Photo Shoot

Here are a few of Charlotte's pictures from her holiday photo session. With Matt and I both working our tails off this year, we were unable to get our family pictures taken, but isn't she a cutie!

Charlotte and the Tree

December 8th we went out to a tree farm in Sumner and chopped down the perfect Christmas tree. We spent the evening decorating the tree and the house for the season. I had been looking forward to doing this since we first bought the home in October 2006. For those of you who do not remember... due to the storms we were left powerless for Christmas 2006 at our new house. No Christmas tree and no decorations. In fact, we had to keep our apartment a month longer where we slept on the floor until power could be restored.
Unfortunately I have no pics to post for this funfilled day! We used our new video camera, and I have yet to figure out how to transfer these dvd videos onto the computer individually. Maybe one day I will figure it out. The pictures above were taken a week or so later.

Thanksgiving 2007

We spent Thanksgiving with Grandma Julee, Great Grandma and Grandpa Kelsey, Uncle Sean, and Aunt Lindsay. I made homemade pumpkin baby food for Charlotte, but it was not a hit! I have tried all the tricks since then...and still she will not eat pumpkin. Funny that in the baby recipe book it reads, "...and babies just love the flavor of pumpkin!" Not this baby! Sorry daddy, your first born is not a pumpkin eater!

My Daddy's Birthday

Over this past weekend we celebrated Matt's birthday. No... he didn't turn 1, but it was his first birthday as a daddy! On Saturday we had lunch at Red Robin with Grandma Kohler and Roger and then for dinner we went to Olive Garden with Grandma Julee, Uncle Sean, and Aunt Lindsay. Whew... it was a very exciting day! Thanks everybody... the food and company was great!

The Blog Begins

Sure it's the Kohler Family blog... but we wouldn't be much of a family without our little girl! So I am sure that most of what I will be blogging about will be about Charlotte.
.
How I wish I would've started this 7 months ago when Charlotte was still on her way... but better late than never. Over the past few weeks I have had visions of the future... the future where I am asking myself, "why didn't I take 30 minutes a week and just do the blog?" I certainly have not kept up on Charlotte's photo albums or scrap book, but who can keep up on those? My hope is that this will be an easy and fun way to share and look back!
