A Celebration Day!

We celebrated our baby girl turning 1! Wow! In the morning at church Charlotte was baptized in a lovely little dress handmade by Matt’s mom, Grandma Kohler. Matt’s family and my mom’s family then helped throw an afternoon lunch party complete with a baby ball-pit!

Daffodil Day!

Saturday April12th was the first hot parade day since 1999... my parade day! It reached the upper 70s in locations around Tacoma and the valley! So naturaly, it was perfect parade day!

Charlotte and her best buddy Christian work on an excape plan to the garden!

I am with Mommy on this one...

Recently we celebrated a co-workers birthday (Jen from Willamette Dental) and Matt and Charlotte joined me at Narrows Bowl to visit and have cake. When Charlotte saw the chocloate cake she was literally clawing at Matt and myself to get to it. She was desparate for a piece of that cake. We laughed and naturally refused to give her any, wondering how does she even know what that is? Why does she want it so bad? Matt and I have been looking forward to giving her cake (and sweets for that matter) for the first time on her birthday. SO... This week Charlotte spent time at (Great) Auntie Carolyn's house. When I went to pick her up after work on Monday I asked what they did that day. Carolyn showed me her camera... and said, "we made brownies!" Why do I get the feeling that this is not Charlotte's first time having sweets? Hmmmm... nu=3233>46:>;42>232446:<3326;ot1lsi.jpg">nu=3233>46:>;42>232446:<33259ot1lsi.jpg">nu=3233>46:>;42>232446:<33267ot1lsi.jpg">

SO I think that Charlote is with mommy on this one... Chocolate is oh so good! Don't you love the last shot... we call it "Baby drunk on Chocolate"!

Remembering Your First Daffodil Parade

75th Year: Remembering Your First Daffodil Parade

This is this years' theme for the Daffodil Festival. What a special year it is for the festival and a special year for me! I look back fondly at my year as a Daffodil Princess in 1999. I remember many small and obvious details from that parade day in 1999… It was so sunny and warm that we had to wear sun block! I sat on the front left corner of the queens float through the Tacoma Parade. And I also remember drawing #1 choice for the upcoming parades in which I passed on Seafair because of the hysteric tears of many of the other Princesses who absolutely HAD to be in that parade! But all of my happy memories, from cramming 19 of us into the new Volkswagen beetle to the Starlight parade in Portland, have become small compared to the joy I encountered the day of the 2007 Daffodil Parade. On Saturday, April 21, 2007 I gave birth to my daughter Charlotte May at St. Josephs Medical Center just blocks above the parade route! So I plan on attending this years 75th year Festival Anniversary with Charlotte and cherishing the past, present and the future. Who knows, maybe I have a princess in the making on my hands… it seems destined doesn’t it? ~Nadine (Coury) Kohler Stadium High School 1999
