Busy summer days

There is a lot to catch up on, so much that I cannot remember where to start. The weeks have been full... Fathers Day, then Wedding Showers for Lindsay and Erin, Church picnic, a visit from Julie (Grandma Kohler), the 4th of July... Here are a few stories from the mix... Stay Awake One night as Matt and I played Die Siedler (our favorite board game) Matt hushed me to listen to Charlotte. Neither of us moved, and we spoke to each other very quietly, as if to not startle an animal. Very softly Charlotte was singing the song Stay Awake to her baby doll as she rocked it to sleep. This is a song from Mary Poppins. We were amazed! Not only could we recognize the tune, but she knew the words! I wish I could have caught it on tape, but I was to afraid to move! It was so sweet! A few days later, we discovered that the Galaxy Theater in Gig Harbor has classic movie Mondays for $2 per person, and guess what movie was playing? Mary Poppins! Not only was it her first visit to the theater but it is her favorite movie! It was so fun! McDonalds Charlotte and I went to visit Matt at work and we took a walk over to McDonalds to get ice cream. We walked in and Charlotte declares with a wave, “ Hellllloooo!” This of course got the attention of all the employees at the counter. Then she proceded to shout, “Yeah! Yeah! Oh Look (as she pointed at the happy meal toys)!” Next thing we know, the manager brings out a happy meal box (we didn’t even order a happy meal) with the entire Ice Age 2 toy collection. This girl knows how to turn on the charm! The (Naughty) Ballet Slippers SO last week I took Charlotte with me to my mom's salon in Federal Way. She was still working when we got there, so I decided to take her for a little walk around the complex. On the back side is a store I have been visiting since I was about 5- The Dance Collection. Naturally I look forward to Charlotte taking dance lessons and one day enjoying visits to this store as well. I thought I would peek in and see just how small they made ballet slipper. The lady that works there (has been there for years) is a strict ballet teacher, and immediately asked what I was looking for. At that very moment Charlotte turned into a crazy child. The lady brought a pair of shoes to put on her and Charlotte yelled, "NO!" and kicked her arm almost in the face! I was horrified! We managed to get the shoes on her and then she began running through the clothing racks weaving and running from me. It was the most embarrassing moment I have had yet with Charlotte. Not exactly the picture of a little girl who needs or deserves ballet slippers. I had no intentions of purchasing anything when I walked in the store, but I was so horrified that I bought the shoes as fast as I could. Grabbed her in the football hold, snagged her sandals off the floor and ran out of the store. You better believe she got a spank as soon as we were far enough away from the store!

Where does poop go? That has been the question of the month! Every time Charlotte poops in her diaper, we ask, “Charlotte, where does poop go? In the potty!” SO last week when Julie (Grandma Kohler) was visiting and we were finishing dinner, Charlotte announces while standing near the dining room table, “LOOK! POOP!” I could not believe my eyes. Poop was smeared on her doll cradle! My daughter- my cute, sweet Charlotte- had reached into her diaper and smeared her poop! AHHHHHH!!!!! Charlotte’s Vocabulary I won’t lie, she still chatters in the craziest baby talk I have ever heard! But, out of the blue she busts out with perfectly clear sentences. Some of my favorite are… I got you! It’s a Chase! Where are you? Or Lola, Where are you?
