Project Day

So here is a new hole in what used to be our dining room. We re-arranged, made this our living room, and decided to add an exterior day to access our side yard. This is the side of the house we hang out in. Charlotte can spend hours playing in our little yard. SO, although Matt and I have learned a lot about construction projects... we were smart enough to hire out for this project. Cutting a hole in the side of a 107 year old house... yeah... for the professionals! So, Matt went to work that day and I was here for the contruction team. Turns out Matt also ordered rock to be delivered that day (for more yard projects), and by accident Tacoma Power stopped by. At first I thought we were in trouble- but it turned out they were at the wrong place. In the mean time... thinking Charlotte was being a good girl playing in her room... I found out that she found some shimmery liquid eyeshadow... How many times does she need to cover herself in makeup before I hide it ALL!

Charlotte's Saturday

First she got herself dressed. Then she did her own makeup. Mommy made her take a bath. Didn't make it to lunch!

Warming our Toes!

When I am cold and too tired to take a nice hot bath, I often put my feet in the sink to warm up.  Recently, I took the time to pull out this foot bath that I got for Christmas last year, and Charlotte was SOOOOOO excited.  She pulled up this stool and jumped right in!
This week we hit record breaking cold temperatures- 16 degrees- so our toes have certainly been cold!  No precipitation, so no snow, but let me tell ya... it is cold!

Sand in your...

During the heat wave (103 degrees in Tacoma) it was pretty impossible to keep clothing on Charlotte. When you're 2, you can get away with running around your yard completely naked! But just one little tip Charlotte would like to share... if you get in the pool and then get in the sand box... you WILL get sand in your crack!

The Whole Package

Ever tried eating a stack of graham crackers? Charlotte has been visiting the snack cupboard a lot recently, and today I found her eating graham crackers- 8 at a time!

The Kitchen...

Does anyone remember the original kitchen????

Hard at work at Home!

We have been hard at work on this house over the last two months. We retextured the ceilings in 4 rooms, painted those ceilings, finished setting the counters in the kitchen, added additional hardware (handles), trimmed out the kitchen, added crown molding to the kitchen... and with all of that has come a lot of cleaning!!! Thankfully we had some help with a few of these projects. We hired a few of the youth group kids to come work so that they could earn $$s for their Guatemala trip. And then the next day we had help from a few of Matt's bank employees and family members of employees. Whew... it has been a lot of work! But I think it is really coming along!

Progress on the room...

There is still more decorating to do... pictures on the walls... a better lamp... maybe a little rug... but at least my sewing project is complete (unless I decide to do more pillows and a curtain to cover her closet area)!

The Toddler Room

One of my goals for the holiday break, was to purge our unused ( half unpacked) office and turn it into a Toddler room for Charlotte. Although Matt and I intended to have her continue sleeping in the nursery, we new she would love a toddler room to play in. She got a toddler bed from Poppa Kohler and Nana Angelia, an adorable kitchen from Grandma Kohler, baby doll stuff from Grandma Juju, and a table and chairs painted by Grandpa Coury! With a few additional pieces and accessories from Ikea this room will be perfect for our little Miss Charlotte. The theme is "Charlotte in Paris". I also, got really maternal all of the sudden and had an urge to sew!! The last time I did this was in high school, and by no means was I any good at it! But, I just couldn't find the bedding I had invisioned for the room. So I made it... thats right! I MADE IT ALL BY MYSELF! I am actually still finishing it up, but I will post pics very soon!
For now, here are a couple shots of her seeing her room for the first time! It was as if she knew immediately that it was all her own! She was so excited, and has refused to sleep in her crib ever since! Thats right, little miss Charlotte at 20 months old decided she was done with the crib and sleeps in her toddler bed! She does great! I think it was about night #4 of sleeping in her new bed that she quietly snuck back in to our room 5 minutes after being tucked in... "Aren't you sleepy Charlotte?" I asked. "Nope!" replied Charlotte! So she sat on our floor and read books. After 20 or 30 minutes I realized she had dissapeared from the floor next to me... she had gone back to bed and was sound asleep cuddled in bed! Wow! She is one funny girl!

Snow

So, Charlotte continues to show sides of her mommy... We are pretty sure this was Charlotte's inner dialogue when we took her out in the snow... "Yeah, I guess its pretty... but are you crazy? You want me to to play with this cold stuff??? Get me inside! Its freezing out here (as she ran for the door)!"
